Macquarie Park Structure Plan

Analysis of urban space, movement systems and potential for change

This urban analysis of one of Sydney’s most significant employment areas, including its potential for change due to the introduction of the Chatswood Parramatta Rail Link, reveals various strategies for future urban projects that can be implemented over the next twenty years. Bordered by the Lane Cove River National Park, Macquarie University and high speed roads, the Macquarie Park Corridor is isolated from the surrounding residential districts. The advent of public transport and increased pedestrian movement in an area dominated by the car affords an opportunity to rethink alternative densities, mixed use typologies and landscaped connections in the office park environment, opportunities for entirely new urban landscapes, buildings and cultural facilities.
